The Real Deal

The Real Deal: Stuart Weitzman ‘Alex’

Here in Arkansas, we’re currently experiencing a lovely pre-tornado warm front. Decades in the natural state have taught me not to trust this weather, but it does turn my attention toward summer. The lovely season that comes after the hail falls and the clouds clear. I get to wear shorts, layer on the bug spray, regularly check my dogs for ticks, and invest in some seriously adorable new sandals. And with all the new styles and trends to choose from, there’s no shortage of attractive options. As numerous as the Arkansas mosquitos, the summer sandal selection online and in stores is daunting and, in many cases, expensive. I always find myself browsing through thumbnails of shoes, getting my heart set on the loveliest pair, and….great, those are $400. If this has never happened to you, please raise your hand. Not so fast every woman alive. But I don’t discourage easily. There’s no shortage of shoe designers out there looking to give you the same look for less. I’m not endorsing complete fashion rip-offs and I respect that designers have the right to their creative property. That said, I can’t afford your expensive creative property. But I can usually find something quite similar for MUCH less without committing a fashion felony.

So, I’d like to introduce The Real Deal feature. Where I pass my fashionable web-surfing/time-wasting research on to you. First up, the Stuart Weitzman ‘Alex’ Espadrille. If you can afford the Real, then you can probably afford two….so buy me a pair. But if you can’t, I’ve collected a few viable options that give you the same designer look without costing you a day’s pay. I particulary like the R2 Striped Espadrille in blue. This would be a fun sandal to add to any summer wardrobe.
